It’s no secret that when MTV created the reality television series Jersey Shore, they created a saga that never dies. The show’s stars have capitalized off of the show with endorsements, sponsors, fragrances, and appearances.
A couple of weeks ago, Nicole ‘Snooki’ Polizzi graced the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine, and while many were internally outraged, singer/songwriter Ne-Yo voiced his frustration via Twitter.
Wow. Snooki is on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine. Really? I quit. (Just kidding, but almost serious….) No disrespect to Snooki, I don’t know her, but damn Rolling Stone? REALLY? REALLY! I guess…..
I feel a rant coming on, but at the sake of sounding like I’m complaining or even hating, Imma chill. I got y’all. New album on the way. I WILL get the respect I deserve in this business or I won’t be in this business. PERIOD. Have a #splendid day twit fam!! I gotta take this opportunity to thank those that recognize what I am regardless of what I do or don’t sell, what a blog hag says I am, etc. Fun is fun, mayhem is entertaining, but COME ON PEOPLE!! There’s gotta be some sort of balance somewhere! Man, God bless the biz….
Ne-Yo wasn’t the only artist pissed at Snook’s new Rolling Stone Cover. Pink also posted a reaction via her facebook fanpage.
So why are artists mad that Snooki snagged the cover? In the past, Rolling Stone has reserved their covers for artists that are making waves in music and pop culture. Tina Turner, The Beatles, Usher, Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey , Eminem and more have graced the cover.
I would be mad at Snooki too because she is NOT A CELEBRITY she does not deserve to be on the cover. She belongs on the back page. lol In the ads.
